Rated Strong Standard: What Ofsted Found at the University of Buckingham

For many trainees, the course opportunities available are life changing.

That's how inspectors described the experience of trainees at the University of Buckingham, following a full review by Ofsted — the UK's national body for inspecting education.

In January 2026, inspectors observed teaching in schools and spoke directly with trainees, mentors, and school leaders. What they found was consistent.

Trainees develop excellent knowledge and skills to teach their subject and phase with confidence. This is driven by a highly ambitious, research-informed curriculum that translates clearly into classroom practice.

Mentoring is a standout strength for the University of Buckingham. Tutors and mentors are described as inspiring and aspirational, with support closely aligned to the realities of teaching.

Inclusive practice is not treated separately, but embedded throughout — shaping how trainees teach from the outset.

Across all areas, the programmes were rated "Strong Standard" — a judgement used by Ofsted to indicate performance above the expected level for teacher training providers.

For teachers working internationally, this matters.

Through BISE, you access the same programmes, taught by the same academic team at the University of Buckingham, with the same curriculum, standards, and level of support — all without relocating.

That means the experience described by inspectors — from structured curriculum design to personalised mentoring — is not limited to the UK. It is built into the programme wherever you study.

Through BISE, you can enrol in PGCE, iQTS, and MA in Education programmes while continuing to work in your school.

Here you will be taught by internationally recognised experts, supported by a personal tutor, and guided every step of the way — applying your learning directly in your own classroom.
