The University of Buckingham Annual Reception 2025 Highlights

The University of Buckingham and the Buckingham International School of Education (BISE) successfully hosted the Annual Beijing Reception and Graduation Celebration, bringing together graduates, alumni, educators, and partners from across China.

This year’s gathering welcomed teachers from more than 20 schools, travelling from over eight cities, including Ningbo, Jiaxing, Tianjin, Shanghai, Hangzhou, Shenyang, Fuzhou and Qingdao. The event also celebrated the academic achievements of 16 graduates from the Faculty of Education.

The programme featured a special lecture by Professor Barnaby Lenon CBE, Dean of Education at the University of Buckingham, on What Makes a Good Teacher.

This was followed by a roundtable discussion with contributions from:

  • Professor Barnaby Lenon, Dean of Education, the University of Buckingham

  • Toby Mullins, CEO, Buckingham International School of Education

  • David Mansfield, Chief Academic Advisor, ISAIEG

  • Debre Johnson, Primary Homeroom Teacher, HD Beijing School & Graduate of 2025

The evening concluded with a graduation celebration and a networking reception, offering guests the opportunity to connect, exchange insights, and celebrate the strength of Buckingham’s education community in China.

Both the University of Buckingham and BISE remain committed to supporting high-quality teacher development and fostering closer ties with educators across the region. We look forward to welcoming our community again at next year’s event.
