Key Entry Requirements
All courses require the following entry requirements to be met:
- You must hold a Bachelor's Degree, or a Master's Degree (if you're applying for the doctorate programme)
- For any degrees completed outside of the UK, you will need a 'Statement of Comparability' from ENIC.
- If you are not from an English-speaking country or your academic degree was not delivered in English, you will be required to provide evidence of English Language proficiency. Information on accepted tests and minimum scores is provided here. Doctorate applicants may be waived of this requirement at the discretion of the university.
Employment Requirements
“We know that [learning on-the-job is] the most effective way of becoming a good teacher and being able to practice what we are telling you to do in the classroom week in, week out.”
-- Prof. Barnaby Lenon CBE, Dean, Faculty of Education
Our courses are designed to be completed alongside a job in education. This means that students are able to cement their knowledge through immediate practice. The most effective way to improve teaching skills.
For example, our PGCE and iQTS courses require applicants to be employed in a school as a teacher at the time of their study. Applicants will also need to meet additional requirements regarding teaching hours and class sizes. Our MA courses require employment in a school or educational organisation, which can apply to a wide range of circumstances. The doctorate programme requires applicants to have a minimum of 3 years' experience working in the education sector.
It is important to check the individual entry requirements for each course on the course pages.
